  • FOTAS ~ ongoing

    FOTAS (Friends of the Animal Shelter) is a 501(c)(3) public charity, all volunteer organization, whose mission is to support the Aiken County Animal Shelter by promoting animal welfare and responsible pet ownership so that one day, no adoptable animals will ever need to be euthanized in the shelter.  There are many ways in which you can help. Volunteer as a dog walker, play with cats (they love laser pointers!), adopt a homeless pet, be a short-term foster animal parent, donate blankets or food, assist with fundraising events and more.     Meals on Wheels, an organization providing prepared meals to those in need, urgently needs volunteers.     This program sponsored by the Mental Health America of Aiken County seeks volunteers for the following activities:
    • Reading with children or book club with women
    • Cooking lessons
    • Vegetable garden maintenance
    • "Adopt a room" projects for room makeovers
    • Tutoring for school aged children

  • Aiken Historical Museum ~ date to be assigned

    Aiken Historical Museum is looking for volunteers to do light cleaning. ANC has volunteered to assist with this endeavor in October.  Once a date has been assigned, members will be contacted and asked to sign up if interested. 

  • Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Center

    Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Center (OLVCC) is looking for volunteers in the following categories: Caseworkers, Receptionist & Voicemail Persons, GED Tutors, and Food Pantry Helpers.

    OLVCC is a rural multipurpose community center established to minister to the needs of the poor in Horse Creek Valley, Aiken County, SC.  They currently provide financial assistance for utility and medication (Monday, Wednesday & Friday by appointment only), food pantry (Monday, Wednesday & Friday 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.) and GED Program (Tuesday & Thursday 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.), as well as a sub-site for the Aiken Area Council on Aging Senior Program (5 days a week from 9 a.m. to noon.  If you are interested in volunteering your time to this organization, please contact Ms. Joely Leguizamon, site administrator.  Her phone number is 803-270-4646.   • Saratoga WarHorse (SWH) ~ ongoing

    After Anne Campbell spoke at a recent ANC luncheon, many members were interested in volunteer opportunities for this worthy organization.  Following is a list of their current needs:

    • Host dinner parties for 12-15 veterans while they here in Aiken.  Contact is Dorothy Ridley 803-599-8288.

      NOTE:  Veterans do not come to Aiken July - September as our hot summers are not good for the horses.
